Proposed SASC Constitution
The draft constitution is now ready for your review and comments.
The Existing Rules have been reworked to comply with the Associations Incorporation Act 2009, particular elements of the 2016 Model Rules and current Club practice; the Proposed Constitution is written in Plain English with current terminology.
Follow the links below to documents:
The plan is to discuss your comments at the Club meeting on Tuesday 25th September, incorporate agreed amendments to the Proposed Constitution and then seek approval of the Constitution via a special resolution at the AGM on 14th November.
I would like to acknowledge contribution by Kirsty Easdale for assistance preparing the Proposed Constitution.

SASC Lodge Cooperative renews sub-lease at Charlotte Pass
On 30 April 2018 the Lodge Cooperative signed a new Sub-Lease with Charlotte Pass Snow Resort. This secures our interest in Charlotte Pass for the next 40 years. The Directors have worked tirelessly to achieve the best outcome for our members. If you have been holding off making bookings due to the uncertainty surrounding the Sub-Lease, please send in your bookings as soon as possible. It would be great to start this new Sub-Lease with high utilisation of the Southern Alps Lodge, which we hope will be matched with excellent snow conditions.
Congratulations to our Winter Olympians
Sam Wells and Sami Kennedy-Sim have both performed at the highest level and we are very proud of their achievements.
Unfortunately Sam Wells was not able carry her training form into competition jumps in the ladies aerials at PyeongChang. Sam was part of a very strong Australian aerials team and has now announced her retirement. We wish Sam all the best for what ever comes next.
Sami skied very well in the ladies ski cross to finish in 8th place in a strong Olympic field. Sami has continued with 7th and 5th places in World Cup races at Sunny Valley in Russia and now moves on to the next World Cup at Megeve in France. Good luck Sami!

Currently there are several reviews being conducted by NPWS in the Kosciuszko National Park (KNP), detail of the reviews that most affect SASC members are listed below:
1. Governance of Perisher Range Resorts (PRR) and Charlotte Pass
The Management review has concluded for Perisher with NPWS determining that a head lease is the preferred management model for resorts within Kosciuszko National park.
However there were no suitable Expressions of Interest for Perisher Range Resorts so NPWS will investigate "better cost recovery options for services at PRR".
At Charlotte Pass the head lease has been granted to Charlotte Pass Snow Resort (formally Charlotte Pass Village P/L). Southern Alps has signed a sub-lease for occupation of our current site until 2058
More information is available on the NPWS page
2. KNP Environmental Carrying Capacity Review
After working on the carrying capacity review for Kosciusko National Park for several years the NPWS is no longer proceeding with the review. Capacity issues will be based on case by case basis.
For more information follow this link to NPWS site.
3. KNP Wild Horse Management Plan
The Draft Wild Horse Management Plan has been overturned by the Kosciuszko Wild Horse Heritage Bill 2018 which was passed by NSW Parliament in June 2018.
The Bill recognises the heritage value of Brumbies in KNP and is aimed at preventing lethal control of Brumby populations. The control of wild horse population remains very emotional and controversial.
